The Nigerian Nostalgia Project (NNP) began as a reaction to the gaps of knowledge and understanding of Nigeria's development that created a  disconnection in the collective between Nigerian values and her ideals.

In 2010, as Nigeria celebrated 50 years as an independent State and 40 years of significant wealth, with little correlation between those facts and the lives of ordinary Nigerians, some hard questions needed to be asked, Questions which the Project hopes to be in a position to provide answers.

Today, NNP is a popular culture identity-focused social organization that collects, preserves, repackages, and redistributes elements of both the ethnic and the collective Nigerian experience. The Project aggregates digital images, documents, sound bytes, and video footage from a plurality of public and private sources and uses these to promote thoughtful self-examination and a reconnection to Nigeria’s foundational ideals. Its core activities support education, research, analysis and writing of Nigerian histories as well as public access to such, as a critical element for collective national development.
